How The Appointment Runs
What actually happens
Forty-five minutes, and the measuring is the shortest part of it. Most of the appointment is spent on how you actually live and work — which rooms you walk into, whether you drive or fly, what you already own that you reach for without thinking, and what you own that you never touch.
Then cloth. We buy from English and Italian mills, and this is the part you have to do with your hands rather than your eyes — fabrics that photograph almost identically behave nothing alike once they are made up.
Measurements last, and they are taken to draft a paper pattern for one body and no other. That is what bespoke means: the word originated on Savile Row and means to be spoken for, a garment claimed by a person before it exists.
What To Bring
- A jacket you already own that fits you better than the rest, even if you cannot say why. It is the fastest way to show us what you actually like.
- Any commitments the garment has to survive — a wedding, a season of travel, a courtroom. It changes the cloth as much as the cut.
Afterwards
The commission runs through three fittings after this appointment: a scrap fitting that proves the pattern in inexpensive fabric before your cloth is cut, a basted fitting loosely stitched in white thread while balance and drape can still be moved, and a forward fitting before delivery.
